Today is a day to honor the men and women who have served our country as members of the U.S. Armed Forces. These Veterans have fought and served to protect our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Their sacrifice is part of what makes this the greatest country on earth.
In the wake of Election Day and political turmoil throughout the country it is easy to get frustrated with the government and forget all the freedoms we enjoy every day as Americans. Even the fact that we have the right to vote at all is a privilege many would and have died for.
Many people in other parts of the world, people not much different from you and me, are persecuted or even killed simply for speaking their mind, or practicing the “wrong” religion, or any number of other freedoms that we so easily take for granted.
This Veterans day please take a moment to reflect on all the things we, as Americans, have to be thankful for. And when you do, find a Veteran, shake their hand and sincerely thank them for protecting those things for you.
If you are a Veteran, thank you for doing your part to keep America the land of the free and the home of the brave.
